Rules
The Flag League rulebook · the source of truth for the season.
Game Format
- 5-on-5 flag football, two 20-minute halves with a running clock.
- Field is 60 yards long with 10-yard end zones, 25 yards wide.
- Each team has 4 downs to advance to midfield, then 4 more to score.
- Teams may use one timeout per half.
Scoring
- Touchdown: 6 points.
- Extra point: 1 point from the 5-yard line, 2 points from the 10-yard line.
- Safety: 2 points and the ball.
- Defensive return on an extra point attempt: same value as the attempted PAT.
Defense & Rushing
- Defenders must remove a flag to end a play — no tackling, no diving.
- The rusher must start 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
- One rusher per play; QB has 7 seconds to release the ball or play is dead.
Penalties
- Flag guarding: 10 yards, loss of down.
- Offsides / illegal motion: 5 yards.
- Pass interference: 10 yards and automatic first down.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct: 10 yards and possible ejection.
